About John
I’m John Bissett, an artist from Nottinghamshire. I bring classical techniques to paintings and drawings shaped by my own way of seeing. My work explores people, places and everyday subjects, with a respect for craft and the expressive possibilities of each medium.
Commissions
-
A commissioned artwork can capture someone important to you, a much-loved animal or a place with personal meaning. I bring the same care for observation, materials and craft to a commission as I do to my own work.
-
We’ll discuss the subject, your ideas and where the artwork will live. Together we can consider painting or drawing, scale and suitable references, so the finished piece feels personal to you.
-
Tell me a little about the piece you have in mind, including any preferred size, budget or date. I’ll be in touch to discuss what’s possible, availability and the next steps.
Teaching
Tradition, craft and a personal vision
I run workshops for institutions and teach private students, sharing my respect for craft while helping each person develop their own way of seeing.
